Ceftibuten is a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used primarily for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria, such as acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and urinary tract infections.
