Ciclesonide is an inhaled corticosteroid used in the prophylactic treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. It is a prodrug that is activated in the lungs to its active metabolite, des-ciclesonide. Ciclesonide is approved and commonly used today for asthma maintenance therapy.
