Lorazepam is a short-acting benzodiazepine used primarily to treat anxiety disorders, insomnia, status epilepticus, and as premedication for anesthesia. It has anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant properties. Lorazepam is widely approved and still clinically used today.
