Neostigmine is a reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used to treat myasthenia gravis, reverse the effects of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants after surgery, and manage postoperative ileus and urinary retention. It is a well-established drug and remains in clinical use today, especially in anesthesiology.
