modelSimpleValve

Simple valve model for calculating a mass flow rate out of a given pressure difference, linear pressure loss, simple fluid ports

Information

Purpose of model

A simple model of a valve with two fluid ports. The pressure loss is dependent on the opening of the valve. The opening of the valve is defined by a Real Input with values between 0 and 1. The pressure loss over the pipe can be influenced by changing the parameters m_flow_nom or delta_p_nom.

Level of detail, physical effects considered, and physical insight

L2 (defined in the CodingConventions)

  • static mass balance
  • constant fluid properties
  • static energy balance, isenthalp
  • linear pressure loss depending on the opening of the valve

Interfaces

Governing Equations

m_flow = OpeningValveIn * m_flow_nom / delta_p_nom * (inlet.p - outlet.p)
