Avatrombopag is an orally administered small molecule thrombopoietin receptor agonist that is used to treat thrombocytopenia, particularly in patients with chronic liver disease scheduled to undergo a medical or dental procedure and in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP).
